Welcome to the Silver Grays Home Page

The Silver Grays Ballroom Dance Club met in Framingham, MA, for over a century. In 2002, we received certificates from the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives, and the Framingham Board of Selectmen, in honor of our 100-year anniversary. Unfortunately, the Silver Grays has now disbanded. Our last dance was in November, 2009, and the Silver Grays archives are now in the Framingham History Center.

Our name may refer to silver-gray foxes, as pictured on our original logo, or possibly to the horses our original members drove to the dances. We were a private club of up to 40 couples of all ages (silver-gray does not refer to hair color!) who met six times each year to dance, socialize and enjoy homemade desserts together.

Our dances took place in a rented hall, usually to live music. Bands who played for us regularly include Trilogy, Eddie "Boots" Russo, and Sal Tori and the Sound of Music.

Each dance had a theme for the decorations and desserts, and sometimes for dress as well, for those who enjoy costumes and dressing up. Attire ranged from business casual through historical, international, and seasonal, to tuxedos and evening gowns, depending on the dance theme and personal preference.

See you on the dance floor!Home
